Scion Presents???

Scion A/V Remix 45 King VS

[if you want to skip the self-justifying trip and get to the music, jump to the finger]

Scion as far as everybody knows is a branch of Toyota marketed towards the younger demographic. The success of their cars isn’t as much in their performance as it is their marketing, which when you think about it is why they have all the flashy commercials and the options on their models. It also explains why Scion pumps so much money in to music. From the Scion website

“Scion A/V, their in-house record label, promotes MCs and bands through a creative series of 12″ promotionally distributed vinyl and cd releases”

Whoever they have in that end of their marketing department has done their homework, cause they’ve tapped some pretty good artists, from Raekwon to Raheem DeVaugn to Flosstradamus to Spank Rock. At the end of the day though, for Scion its still just about building some cred with the younger crowd and not about the music itself. Its good for the artists cause they’re getting some well deserved money but it seems like its kind of just part of that corporate clog just turning. I say this cause I don’t want to seem like just another clog, but in this case the ends justified the means.

45 king put out a couple tracks and mixes with 4th Pyramid, Wale and Pase Rock. The tracks are pretty good, but the standouts were definitely “Strings” and “Roof” featuring Wale and “The 900 Number” with Pase Rock. It’s overall a good listen and good sign that DMV resident Wale is getting some major exposure.

“The writer of the writer movement/ disciple students get enlightened i provide the tutoring/ you cant f with it you new to this/ no you cant f with it like a neutered pet”
